Montesquieu Cremant du Jura

Montesquieu Cremant du Jura  Jura, France

Tucked away on the eastern edge of France and neighboring Switzerland, the quiet Jura region has a long and proud history of producing artisan-level Sparkling wine.  Cremant du Jura wows you with its rich creamy flavors while it exhilarates with its pulsing acid and minerality, and we are elated to showcase this unique region's terroir with our very own Montesquieu Cremant du Jura. A classic blend of 60% Chardonnay and 40% Savignin, the wine's pale white gold color comes to life with an endless stream of tiny bubbles.  The nose is fragrant with white peach, freshly baked bread, and toasted vanilla.  The palate delivers rich Meyer lemon and pear flavors with an accent of orange peel, all supported by a vibrant core of acidity.  The bright acid sustains the finish and carries on with delicate nuances of lime zest and honeyed green apple.  An ideal aperitif wine, this Cremant will be a lovely pairing for a variety of appetizers such as crab cakes, tuna poke, or a selection of soft cheeses.

2014 Nelkarisi Saperavi Kekhati, Georgia

It is our distinct pleasure to once again offer the wines of Nelkarisi from the Republic of Georgia.  Georgia is the cradle of wine civilization with a production history traced all the way back to 6000 BC.  With the fall of the Soviet Union the Iron Curtain was drawn back to reveal a nation eager to share its proud wine history globally and reestablish itself in the wine world with an influx of western investment. Nelkarisi was formally established in 2009 by a group of eleven international friends with a deep passion for authentic Georgian wine.  No expense has been spared in the development of the winery and its vineyards, and Nelkarisi is committed to producing its wine using only traditional methods and varietals.  We look forward to your enjoyment of these wines. Saperavi is the premiere red grape from Georgia and carries a powerful opaque color thanks to its dark skin and juice.  The nose reveals damp, mossy notes of earth and leather together with blackberry and cassis. The body seduces with ripe black cherry flavors and a layered velvety mouthfeel, reminiscent of a fine Red Burgundy with its bold and complex yet totally effortless style.  The finish delivers a polished, elegant tannin and subtle nuances of rose, blackberry and spice. Best served alongside grilled red meats, the wine pairs particularly well with lamb or venison. Approachable today, the wine should evolve nicely over the next 10-12 years.

We should all drink more Riesling, life is simply better with it around.  And the beauty and versatility of Riesling is on full display with this gem from Washington’s Columbia Valley.  Platinum gold in color, the nose is honeyed peach and floral with a crisp undertone of zested lemon.  The palate is zingy with a mix of green apple and melon complemented by vibrant minerality and a pleasing hint of Kabinett-like sweetness.  The finish stays crisp and clean and offers limitless food pairing options.  Truly a wine for any and all occasions!
